Collections: Personal letters, diaries, manuscripts, unpublished memoirs, foreign documents and war crimes trials records.
Study facilities:

Main Building, Lambeth Road - the Reading Room is open to any member of the public Monday - Saturday 10.00am - 5.00pm (14 years and under to be accompanied by an adult). Please make an appointment as seats are sometimes limited. The Department is closed during the last two full weeks at the end of May.

Study room now available for wheelchair users and others unable to negotiate stairs. For details of special facilities please telephone 020 7416 5222

Most of the Foreign Documents, War Crimes Trial records and associated collections are held in the Department of Documents’ repository at IWM Duxford, just outside Cambridge. There are basic research facilities on site which are open to the public, by prior appointment, Monday – Friday 10.00am – 5.00pm (there is currently no Saturday service at Duxford): e-mail contact via docs@iwm.org.uk, or telephone direct on 01223 499346. Limited quantities of material can also be transferred to Lambeth Road at the discretion of the Archivist, given sufficient notice.

Copy material supplied: Black and white photocopies (small quantities available the same day). Colour photocopies, photocopies of material larger than A3 and special photography can be arranged on request. Limited film/photography by the customer may be arranged subject to a facility fee.
