The Art collection is currently being relocated as part of major renovation works which will improve the Museum’s collections storage and public research facilities. Works are expected to continue well into 2010. During this time, the Museum is unable to provide study access to original works of art, drawings and prints, posters, art medals and postcards.

During this period, there will be a continuing art display programme at both Imperial War Museum London and Imperial War Museum North featuring selections of artworks from the permanent collection.

Art researchers can continue to access the Library, where a range of relevant art books and the War Artists Archive will be available via appointment from Tuesday to Thursday, 10.00am – 5.00pm. To arrange an appointment, please contact the Collections Enquiry Service on +44 (0)20 7416 5342.

Visitors can continue to access and license over 6,000 images from the Museum’s Collections Online service. An ongoing digitisation programme will ensure that increasing numbers of work are made available online.
